Biography/History:
Mike Chaplin studied graphics and illustration at Watford Art School and postgraduate printmaking at Brighton. His teaching career began while he was still at college and today his international workshops are much in demand. He appeared as one of the art experts on the Channel 4 television series Watercolour Challenge and demonstrated the watercolour technique of JMW Turner for an Open University film on BBC2. He also provided examples of watercolour techniques for the Thomas Girtin exhibition at Tate Britain in 2002. A former Vice-President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and a Member of the Royal Watercolour Society, Mike helped to found the Winsor & Newton Turner Award and was one of the judges for the Award in 2004.
