Abstract: At Governor Edgerton's request, Pinkerton detective Joshua Dillard is sent to a lawless Montana boom-town peopled by avaricious gold prospectors and ruthless bandits. Joshua immediately sets his sights on the arrogant Blackie Dukes and his bunch. Then 'Aces' Axford's safe at the Magnet saloon is robbed right under Joshua's nose. It seems the gold has been spirited away by Axford's pretty employee Kate Thompson, who has also double-crossed the dangerous Dukes gang. Now, seven years later, Joshua returns to Montana as the town's marshal. It's time to solve the mysteries and lay a ghost to rest with a blazing six-shooter.
