On a hot August day in 1994, a ferryboat takes 75 holidaymakers to an uninhabited island off the Norfolk coast. But only 74 return - for one of them, a young lifeguard, has been murdered - stabbed and left to bleed to death in the island's surf. The case is never solved. 20 years later, the case is re-evaluated.
