Immanuel and Uzziah escape while the two warring bands of Injuns fight to the death.Uzziah will not let the revelation of Immanuel’s original family lie fallow. He insists that they travel to the northwest Mandans. Immanuel resists, but finally gives in as long as they can travel by paddle wheeler. Uzziah resists that form of travel, but Immanuel insists.
