Dancers in mourning

Allingham, Margery, 1904-19662019
Large Print
Everyone fell under the spell of Jimmy Sutane, the charming song-and-dance man. Everyone, that is, except the practical joker who put a pin in his stick of grease-paint and pasted 'Last Week' over the 'House Full' notices. But as soon as Albert Campion is called in to investigate, people begin to die. When song-and-dance star Jimmy Sutane falls victim to a string of practical jokes involving bouquets of garlic, birds in the gallery and a pin in his make-up stick, there's only one man who can get to the bottom of the apparent vendetta against the music-hall darling - Albert Campion. But when Campion visits Sutane's country house, where his show-business friends live alongside his family, the backstage pranks escalate and an ageing starlet is killed. Under pressure to uncover the culprit, and plagued by his growing feelings for Sutane's wife, Campion finds himself uncomfortably embroiled in an investigation which tests his ingenuity and integrity to the limit...
