Dimbleby, Rod2014
Book
John Hartley, born in Halifax in 1839, was the most prolific Yorkshire dialect writer of his day. Most of his output can be found in the Clock Almanacks dated 1867-1916, the final one published after his death in 1915. Writing in Yorkshire dialect he made an enormous contribution to establishing it as a literary medium and preserving it for modern audiences. In this book, Rod Dimbleby brings John Hartley and his work vividly to life.
